From Texas-sized 2 Tiny House For Three

Well, it’s a start!

While I managed to totally jack my back up in the process, I am totally thrilled by the cedar shake shingle accent wall I created all by myself! Too bad I’m getting out of my hand splint only to be crippled in another way (though this boo boo won’t last 6 weeks I’m sure), but I have to admit it was totally worth it to start seeing our house FINALLY taking shape on the siding front. I’m hopped up on NSAIDS, tramadol, and Thermacare, but I’m also dopey on a self-esteem boost, too. Yay! ๐Ÿ™‚

Brandy took over for the rest of the day, and check out what all he got done:

There’s actually even more completed around and just above the window, but he ran out of wood scraps and light before he could totally finish. I’m working the next 4 days in a row, so he’s going to take the time to finish up the laths on the right side of the house, finish the roofing on the front side, and try to get some more trim work done on the decorative gables, too.

I also drew out a window trim guide so he can start cutting down and installing more of the reclaimed wood I picked up from Reclaimed Desingworks in Dallas last week. I have to say, it looks even better than I had imagined! I’m still going to add a touch of color to some of the grey boards that coordinate with our roof colors, but I’m not going to add nearly as much as I had planned initially. No need!

We even decided to work in more natural cedar after seeing the shake installed by the door. I will still alter the true cedar color a bit with some of the various stains we have on hand, but I’m definitely glad we decided against painting it. The house looks more organic this way methinks. Love it!

Well, off to bed!
